Supporting Local Communities Through Sustainable Grazing Services

At AgriSolar Ranch, we don’t just cut and run — we put down roots and invest in the local community. While grazing your site we integrate with the local economy with a focus on keeping things county specific. This benefits local farmers, feed suppliers, and agricultural workers.
For the sake of example let’s take a 500-acre solar site stocked with 1,000 sheep. Those sheep would need around 600 round bales of hay every year, bringing in $33,000 to $40,000 for local hay producers. It’s not just about the local farmer cutting hay, our need for hay also supports everyone else down the supply chain for the hay producer.
Additionally, we always make a point to use the nearest local feed store to the solar site for things like minerals, salt blocks, fencing supplies, additional feed, and vet supplies. For this example site with 1,000 sheep, we’d need a $38,000 budget for those supplies. That’s $38,000 year that goes right back into the community through this feed store.

And let’s not forget jobs! Managing a site means hiring two local area shepherds, each earning up to $35,000 a year per site they work.

We do our best to source everything locally at the county level — hay, feed, labor, and more. Not only does this boost the local economy which is the coolest part of solar grazing, but it also keeps things sustainable by cutting down on transportation and reducing our environmental footprint.

When you partner with us, you’re putting a minimal $148,000 a year back into your community — all while utilizing a greener, cheaper and more efficient way to manage your solar site. And let’s be honest, sheep and lambs are way more fun to have around than loud mowers!

Let’s work together to grow a more sustainable future!!
